After a hiatus of nearly a year following the COVID-19 pandemic, the scuba divers of Visakhapatnam made a fascinating discovery when they plunged into the sea off Rushikonda Coast, last week.
A team of four scuba divers from Livein Adventures who were exploring dive sites chanced upon a rare rock formation in the shape of an arch about 30 feet below sea level near Rushikonda. According to Balaram Naidu, founder of Livein Adventures, accessibility makes the area appealing to scuba divers. “This is the first time I have seen such an arch in this part of the coast. Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Tuesday praised the government of India for kicking off the Blue Flag concept for the betterment of beaches in India as he spoke during Mission Paani Waterthon on Tuesday.
Pattnaik was among the many water warriors, politicians, union ministers, and celebrities who came together on Network18 to take the pledge of water conservation on the day-long event on the 72nd Republic Day of India.
The sand artist joined the event from his backyard, Puri beach to talk on the cleanliness of the beaches and keeping the sea litter-free. ....

Centre urged to develop nine other beaches in State
Rushikonda Beach in the city has become the first in Andhra Pradesh and among eight beaches in India to be awarded the Blue Flag, the prestigious eco-label which places it in the league of world-class beaches.
Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao hoisted the flag at Rushikonda on Monday.
Union Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar hoisted the flags at the eight beaches simultaneously through a video conference from Delhi. ....
