SXSW Comedy invited some of the most lauded comedy venues from around the country to present live shows from their home stages, most for the first time in nearly a year. Live Comedy Clubs Are Coming Back

This week, just days apart,
two live comedy clubs announced their openings in 2021. The Creek & the Cave, a New York club which closed last year, is resurfacing in Austin on East Seventh, while our own Cap City Comedy Club, which shuttered its home on Research in September, is being resuscitated by new owners in the Domain.
Cap City s comeback is thanks to the Grossman brothers, Marc and Brad, who head the Helium Comedy Club company. Over the past 15 years, they ve built a successful chain of clubs with locations in Philadelphia, Pa.; St. Louis, Mo.; Portland, Ore.; Indianapolis, Ind.; and Buffalo, N.Y. They ve also developed a digital platform, Helium Presents, with online shows and comedy classes, a podcast network, and a comedy record label. Marc Grossman has had a working relationship with the Cap City owners for years, so he was quite familiar with the club. ....

Beloved comedy club, The Creek & The Cave, ditching NY for Texas

Creek and the Cave, the popular New York City comedy club, is slated to make a comeback after shuttering its doors earlier in the pandemic, according to The Interrobang, an online site for comedy news.
Although the New York City club closed this past fall, the new Creek & The Cave will welcome back fans on April 1, 2021 at its new location on 611 E. 7th Street in Downtown Austin. The new location with feature the marquis from its sister club in the big apple.
The club, owned by Rebecca Trent, will run comedy shows every day of the week. Most will start mid evening around 6 p.m., and run until midnight. The performances will center heavily on Austin-based talent, Texas acts, and interactive shows. ....

Cap City is scheduled to reopen at the Domain this fall as The Creek & The Cave confirm plans to reopen in Austin.
Austin could use a good laugh these days. Thankfully, two legendary clubs have announced plans to do just that.
Cap City Comedy Club, the nearly 35-year-old comedy mecca and venue for touring acts and festivals, closed its Research Boulevard spot in September, with the owners citing financial strain brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. But February 10, the club announced on its social media that it would reopen in a new location at the Domain this fall. ....
