Popular California pizzeria blazes into Austin with 10 new locations Ten new Blaze Pizza shops are popping up in Austin this year. The top fast-casual franchise pizza concept in the country is blazing a trail to Austin, with plans to open 10 new pizza shops this year.
Blaze Pizza, a Los Angeles-based company founded in 2011 that now boasts 340 restaurants across 41 states and six countries including one in North Austin on Research Boulevard will grow its Austin presence as part its “aggressive” 2021 expansion plan to bring 16 new locations to key markets, which also include Panama City, Florida, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The Interstate 565 interchange at Toyota Field in Madison is finally open.
This comes less than two weeks from the home opener of the Rocket City Trash Pandas at Toyota Field.
An announcement about the event said,“This interchange will improve interstate access for Toyota Field, Madison Residents and allow for additional retail, restaurant and office developments to occur at Town Madison. Commuters to Redstone Arsenal will also benefit as this interchange will provide an additional interstate access for workers using Gate 7 on Zierdt Road which will ease traffic and reduce backups at Gate 9 on Research Boulevard.”

1 dead in North Austin after being shot multiple times, police say
Austin police are investigating a death in North Austin after it was reported a person was shot multiple times.
18-year-old Gregorio Vences-Benitez has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of a teenage boy on April 25.
US Marshals arrested Vences-Benitez in the 1100 block of Peggotty Place in Austin following a fugitive investigation that led officials to a greenbelt area along Walnut Creek.
Vences-Benitez was transported to the Austin Police Department with a bond set at $500,000.
