Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced today that his office (AGO) settled civil rights cases involving Uber Eats, Postmates, and DoorDash (Companies) regarding allegations of discrimination based on race. The Companies can no longer offer price distinctions based on a person’s race.
In Fall 2020, the AGO’s Civil Rights Division filed Divisional Charges against the Companies alleging public accommodations discrimination based on race. The Charges alleged that the Companies’ promotions to waive delivery fees for restaurants owned by Black individuals unlawfully discriminated against non-Black owned restaurants and their patrons, in violation of the Arizona Civil Rights Act (ACRA). ....

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that food delivery service companies in his state will no longer be able to waive delivery fees specifically for black-owned businesses, which he deemed discriminatory.

“Even with the best of intentions, corporations can do the wrong thing. Altering the price of goods or services based on race is illegal,” Brnovich said in a press release Wednesday, detailing a civil rights case settlement with Uber Eats, Postmates, and DoorDash.
“My office opened these investigations and pursued these settlements to protect civil rights and ensure businesses offer their services and products based on equal and neutral criteria,” Brnovich said. ....

Tucson, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced the Attorney General’s Office Civil Rights Division (Division) has settled an employment discrimination charge based on race on behalf of a victim against Tucson Recovery Villa Maria, formerly known as Unhooked Recovery, Inc. d/b/a Unhooked Recovery Villa Maria (Unhooked Recovery), which operates residential alcohol and substance abuse programs at its locations in Mesa and Tucson.
On January 7, 2020, a woman filed a charge of discrimination with the Division alleging that her employer, Unhooked Recovery, discriminated against her by creating a hostile work environment because of her race and retaliated against her for engaging in protected activity, all in violation of the Arizona Civil Rights Act. ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The Attorney General’s Office Civil Rights Division has settled an employment discrimination charge based on race on behalf of a victim against Tucson Recovery Villa Maria, formerly known as Unhooked Recovery, Inc.

Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced today that the Arizona Attorney General s Office (AGO), in partnership with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), has published a new civil rights pamphlet in English and Spanish available free to Arizonans.
The pamphlet provides Arizonans with answers to frequently asked questions regarding their rights and how to file civil rights complaints related to discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and voting. Initially, the pamphlets are being distributed statewide to 180 locations throughout Arizona, including the Arizona Bar Foundation, Community Legal Services, courts, law libraries, and non-profits. ....
