Billionaire petrol station tycoons Issa brothers complete £6.8bn takeover of Asda from Walmart


Billionaire petrol station tycoons the Issa brothers and their private equity backers have today completed their £6.8billion acquisition of Asda, returning the supermarket giant to British ownership after more than 20 years.
The EG Group, owned by Mohsin and Zuber Issa, previously reached an agreement to acquire the chain from Walmart. 
The deal, which is being backed by investment funds managed by TDR Capital, will also include its chain of petrol forecourts.  
The brothers secured FCA approval for the takeover last week. However, the deal still needs to secure approval by UK competition regulators.
The brothers, who are worth an estimated £3.56bn, sent ripples through the City when they were named as the frontrunners for the takeover last year.  ....

Passenger says he'll do 'whatever it takes to stay' as he lands at Edinburgh airport


An overseas traveller today said he is happy to do whatever it takes as new quarantine measures came into force for Scotland.
People flying directly into a Scottish airport on international flights have to self-isolate for 10 days in a quarantine hotel room, under new regulations that took effect this morning.
Unless exempt, a passenger will have to pay £1,750 to quarantine in a room at one of six designated hotels in a bid to avoid new virus variants arriving into the country.

The leader of a new political party inspired by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement wants to create a sex offender-style “race offenders” registry to punish white people who commit “micro-aggressions” in the workplace.
Sasha Johnson, a self-declared “Black Panther of Oxford” who identifies as a member of the “Taking the Initiative Party” (TTIP), is pushing for black people to receive “Holocaust-style” reparations from white people for the “discrimination” blacks have supposedly had to endure at the hands of capitalism.
In addition to “defunding” Great Britain’s police forces, 26-year-old Johnson wants to crack down on white people who offended her by preventing them from working, going to school, teaching and engaging in other activities. ....
