People who visit the Goodhue Area Historical Society often leave amazed at how much local history is on display, according to Roy Buck, president of the board of directors. âA lot of people come in to go to the library, the research room,â he said. âThere is a lot more history here than what they thought.â An early focus of the museum was the rich agricultural history of Goodhue and the surrounding area. As more donations arrived, the board added other areas of interest. The original building was built in 2004 and then an addition, which doubled the size of the display space, was built in 2016. ....

DESPITE once being the community’s central point, Ulverston s former Holy Trinity Church went through a series of ups and downs involving construction, planning and questions around its future after years of decay. Andy Lisak, 58, who formerly directed the Development Association in Douglas County and later was Douglas County administrator, died Monday in Superior after fighting cancer for more than three years. The Superior native was born in the North End and went on to obtain degrees in economics and sociology at American University and studied labor relations and collective bargaining as a post-graduate student at Cornell. After residing in Madison for a decade, he led the Development Association from 2001 to 2010 and Douglas County through 2017, when he became weakened by cancer. In a 2010 interview with BusinessNorth, his colleagues said Lisak brought a regional mindset to the Development Association, where he encouraged public and private leaders to work as a team. ....
