The name Rajendra Kohli and his image on the dust jacket of the book at once lit up my memory of a mid-morning at Gangtok in May 1964. I was the junior-most staff officer, a captain with less than eight years in uniform, on active field service at Headquarters 17 Infantry Division. My makeshift office had a broad window, as though cut out on purpose to frame the Kanchenjunga summit to perfection.

Raj & Norah, authored by father-daughter duo Peter R. Kohli and Shaina Kohli Russo, is based on the love story between an Indian soldier and an English nurse during World War II.
The book, published by HarperCollins, will be released online at 7 pm on 25 February on ‘SoftCover’, ThePrint’s e-venue to launch select non-fiction books.

New Delhi, Feb 12 : Raj & Norah is not only a thrilling account of love found, lost and reclaimed in the midst of World War II, it is also a story of two extraordinary individuals battling against their circumstances and what fate has in store for them.
When World War II broke out in 1939, twenty-year-old Rajendra Kohli was studying chemistry at college in England. Soon, however, he decided to volunteer for the war effort against Germany and joined the army. After his heroic actions on the front left him severely injured, he found himself in Naples for treatment. There, he met Norah Elizabeth Eggleton, a nurse with Queen Alexandra s Imperial Military Nursing Service.
