Ludhiana: City businessmen who had given ultimatum to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to waive off the penalties imposed on them under unauthorised use of electricity (UUE) have started their weekly agitation against department from Monday as PSPCL failed to take back the cases. Dozens of businessmen led by Janta Nagar Small Scale Manufacturers Association (JSMA) shouted slogans against the department and also burnt effigy of A Venu Prasad, chairman of the PSPCL. Jaswinder Thukral, president of JSMA, said, “As PSPCL did not budge from its anti-industry stand and has not waived off the penalties imposed on us and UUE cases filed against us for using more power load than sanctioned. Ludhiana: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for all its consumers except for the AP category of meters. Under the OTS, the consumer would be able to settle pending payments existing as on December 31, 2020. The scheme will be applicable for three months from April 15, and in order to enrol in the scheme, the industrial consumers need to deposit Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 as processing fee according to their power load and this fee will be adjusted against the final settlement bill. Meanwhile businessmen are happy over the development and are of the view that the scheme will help settle the old disputes over pending payments. LUDHIANA: Faced with various problems related to the working of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), a delegation of city businessmen met chief engineer of the organisation. According to them, the biggest issue for them is levy of fixed charges for the period of lockdown when the industry was not working. The other issues are erratic power supply and long time taken by the PSPCL to resolve certain day-to-day problems. Businessmen are also of the view that a coordination committee should be formed, in which representatives of the industry and PSPCL officials too should be enrolled as members. This committee can help resolve the problems of the industry faster and also implement suggestions of businessmen to improve the working of the PSPCL. ....
