High prices of sacrificial animals keep buyers at bay July 16, 2021 Rawalpindi : The high prices of sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha is keeping buyers at bay as despite repeated visits to the animal markets majority returns empty-handed. On the other hand, sellers of sacrificial animals blame high token tax or ‘parchi’ for each animal on their entry into the animal market as one of the reasons behind high prices. The traders who have brought their animals from different parts of the country have complained that they are made to pay Rs3000 for every bull and Rs1000 for every goat before entering the animal market. They also complained that despite paying taxes they were not getting any facility from the market administrators or contractors. They said that they were buying a water tanker at Rs3000, the sellers said. ....

Payment of salary to MCR staff before Eid in doubt July 13, 2021 Rawalpindi : The Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) and Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) are facing difficulties in all money related matters as banks refused to cash their cheques without house permission. This situation ran fear of stoppage of salaries among the MCR staff before Eidul Azha. The LHC (Rawalpindi Bench) had given stay orders on all matters and directed Punjab Chief Secretary, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Commissioner and MCR chief officer to appear in person in the court on July 14, 2021. The Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem Khan said that all activities after March 25 were illegal and unconstitutional, as the Supreme Court had ordered to restore local body system on March 25. Rs6 billion surplus budget for RMC Budget has been sent to RMC Administrative Commissioner for final approval PHOTO: FILE RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) has prepared a Rs6 billion surplus budget for the 2021-22 financial year in which no new tax has been imposed nor any tax has been increased. The budget has been sent to RMC Administrative Commissioner Syed Gulzar Shah for final approval. The share for development in the budget has been kept at Rs3 billion, including last year’s ongoing and this year’s development schemes.
