As Bangladesh rakes up Teesta waters issue in Modi-Hasina talks, PM sends message to Mamata Modi-Hasina talks Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina discussed the issue of Teesta waters during the bilateral meeting on Thursday. Sources told India Today TV that Prime Minister Hasina has requested PM Modi for early resolution of the Teesta waters dispute. Prime Minister Modi has assured Hasina that India is aware of the importance of the issue and is working on it. Prime Minister Hasina according to sources said she understood the reasons for the delay. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted the need for early signing of an interim agreement for sharing of the Teesta waters, as agreed upon by both the governments in 2011.
