As Bangladesh rakes up Teesta waters issue in Modi-Hasina talks, PM sends message to Mamata
Modi-Hasina talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina discussed the issue of Teesta waters during the bilateral meeting on Thursday.
Sources told India Today TV that Prime Minister Hasina has requested PM Modi for early resolution of the Teesta waters dispute. Prime Minister Modi has assured Hasina that India is aware of the importance of the issue and is working on it.
Prime Minister Hasina according to sources said she understood the reasons for the delay.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted the need for early signing of an interim agreement for sharing of the Teesta waters, as agreed upon by both the governments in 2011. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India s sincere commitment and continued efforts of the Government of India in that regard, said the India-Bangladesh joint statement. ....

1. H.E. Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India and H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh held a Summit in virtual format on 17 December 2020. Both sides held comprehensive discussions on all aspects of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional and international issues.

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh and India today issued a 39-point joint statement as their premiers held virtual talks, described by both sides as “comprehensive” touching upon all aspects of bilateral relations and respective views on regional and international issues.
The statement highlighted 10 major issues which it said featured the talks between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her counterpart Narendra Modi, with a generalized review of bilateral ties featuring the beginning point of the communiqué.
The statement underlined the 10 issues as: Bangladesh-India partnership; cooperation in health sector in facing the COVID-19; cultural exchanges; border management and security; trade partnership; connectivity; water resources, power and energy; Rohingya crisis; regional and global partnership; and signing of bilateral documents and inauguration of projects. ....
