These are the words of Mandla Mfubesi, brother of the slain Grabouw principal Zameka Mfubesi, and follows after a suspect arrested in connection with the murder case was expected to appear in the Grabouw Magistratesâ Court yesterday (Wednesday 3 February).

The City of Cape Town is escalating the issue of abandoned buildings and vacant land that belongs to national government.
This was revealed by Alderman Stuart Pringle, Subcouncil 24 chairperson, during his opening address at the first subcouncil meeting of the year. “These properties are simply left abandoned at vast expense to the fiscus,” he said. “We will continue to pressure these national departments to get to grips with the property they own and decide what they wish to do with these assets.”

The hobby of metal detecting has returned in full swing at local beaches in the Helderberg, and it didnât take long for one such enthusiast to make a âdecent findâ at Gordonâs Bay main beach on Tuesday (2 February).
Cornell Swart (42) proudly showed off a fistful of âtreasuresâ she found along her walk. It consisted of what appeared to be old coins and rings, one with a 9 ct engraving that could well mean a nice payout, but will have to be cleaned and inspected first.

Developers of Hathersage Farm in Somerset West have proposed to develop a further 157 erven and 75 apartments on the three portions of land â of which the environmental impact assessment (EIA) by Guillaume Nel Environmental Consultants is now open for public comment until next Monday (1 February).
A second round of the public participation process and submission of the second draft Basic Assessment Report is expected to open in March and close in April.
