Gilmore filed a D-1 form with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC) on Tuesday, according to their online database.
Michael Griffin, one of five candidates who was bested by Robinson in 2017, will serve as the chair of Gilmore’s campaign.
“The timing is not traditional, but everything with me is about honor and legacy and given that it’s Black History Month … we decided to announce in February,” Gilmore told HCV over the phone.
“Moving the conversation from affordable housing to affordable home ownership is a big priority. I’d like to create a program where houses and properties can go towards the community and recreation will be paramount to anything. I’m just of the opinion that there isn’t enough for recreation and youth enrichment.” ....

A community group has sued Jersey City and the city planning board, alleging that plans for a controversial high-rise in the city’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood violate both New Jersey law and the terms of a neighborhood development plan.
The Morris Canal Redevelopment Area Community Development Corporation and its executive director, June Jones, filed the suit Monday to halt the development of the Morris Canal Manor, a planned 17-story development at 417 Communipaw Ave., near Woodward Street and just north of Berry Lane Park. ....

Jersey City Council approves zoning measure to move Morris Canal Manor project forward

At Monday’s caucus meeting, Lavarro revealed Jersey City received $1 million from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to reimburse the purchase of the property, which was supposed to be incorporated into Berry Lane Park.
Acting Business Administrator John Metro said the dollars remain unspent,  adding that the city can work with the DEP to find a comparable project where the money can be used.
Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (JCRA) Executive Director Diana Jeffrey said the site, known as Steel Technologies, was always privately owned. ....
