LEESBURG, Fla. – A man driving with a suspended license confessed to a hit-and-run crash once he learned his children told investigators the crash happened, according to the Leesburg Police Department.
The department responded to a 47-year-old motorcyclist in the roadway near Montclair Road and Lone Oak Drive Wednesday evening. The man, identified as Joseph McMurrey, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a couple hours later.

According to an arrest affidavit, an officer noticed fluid from a vehicle at the site of the crash that headed toward Thomas Avenue along with pieces of a vehicle that had “HONDA” on it. Police were able to identify a white Honda crossing Thomas Avenue around the time the crash occurred using surveillance video from nearby businesses. ....

Citywide Brush Pickup to begin May 10
The Oak Ridge citywide brush pickup program will begin Monday, May 10.
Tree limbs and bagged yard clippings and leaves will be picked up, a city news release stated. City collection efforts will follow the accompanying schedule as closely as possible.The proposed schedule is a general guide and can vary considerably from the actual schedule due to weather conditions and/or the amount of participation by residents.
All limbs should be placed near, but not beyond the curb, with the butt end near the street. Keep all materials off sidewalks, parking areas and out of gutters. ....

Hungry Howie s opened its first Birmingham, Alabama store this week, a first for franchisee Falgun Patel, a news release said.
The Montclair Road store is in the Birmingham jurisdiction of Irondale. Patel has a background in business administration and running gas and convenience stores with his family s business. Hungry Howie s is his launching pad into a restaurant franchising career, during which he hopes to open more locations in the future.
Hungry Howie s has about 550 stores systemwide and is based in Madison Heights, Michigan. ....

Family and friends of slain Birmingham Water Works employee Tyrone King pleaded for the 29-year-old worker’s killer to turn themselves in and for any witnesses in King’s unsolved murder to come forward during a vigil Wednesday near the spot where King was gunned down last week.
“I miss my son. I love my son very much. My son didn’t mess with nobody,” said King’s mother, Myra King, during the vigil at the BBVA Compass Bank parking lot on Montclair Road near Walmart, where King’s body was found inside a Birmingham Water Works truck Friday afternoon. ....
