local government and Oregon Health Authority have partnered on a first-of-its-kind proposal, promoting vaccinations across Oregon while increasing Moda Center capacity with Vaccinated Sections. The announcement comes just in time for Rip City to cheer on the sixth-seeded Trail Blazers as they host the third-seeded Denver Nuggets in round one of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs, presented by Moda Health and your local Toyota dealers. The Trail Blazers are the only team with a playoffs berth in each of the last eight seasons. The Trail Blazers will host games three and four of the best-of-seven series at Moda Center May 27 at 7:30 p.m. and May 29 at 1:00 p.m. After Saturday’s win, the Blazers are 1-0 in the series, and will face the Nuggets again tonight in Denver at 7:00 p.m. If necessary, game five will return to Denver on June 1; game six at Moda Center on June 3; and a decisive game seven back in Denver on June 5. ....
2021 NBA Play-In Tournament Schedule Set Share this story Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images The 2021 NBA Play-In Tournament schedule has been set. Though the Portland Trail Blazers are working hard to avoid the seventh seed and next week’s tournament, should they participate, their first game will come Wednesday the 19th at a time to be determined. The Blazers would face the Golden State Warriors or Memphis Grizzlies, whomever finishes the regular season with the 8th-best record. The game will be televised on ESPN. Following last night’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, Portland’s destiny will now be dictated by Sunday’s bout with the Denver Nuggets along with the final fortunes of the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers. If the Blazers win on Sunday, if the Lakers lose either of their two final games, or if the Mavericks do not finish ahead of Portland, the Blazers will get the week off while other teams battle for the 7th and 8th seeds. ....
Top 10 Observations from the Blazers’ Narrow Loss to the Suns Share this story Photo by Barry Gossage/NBAE via Getty Images The Portland Trail Blazers came within a few seconds and a single point of defeating the Phoenix Suns tonight in a game that had playoffs intensity and plenty of post-season ramifications. A victory would have guaranteed Portland a place in the 2021 NBA Playoffs without having to go through the league’s Play-In Tournament to earn a seed. The loss leaves their position in doubt. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum were superlative in the 117-118 loss, but Portland’s bench struggled and, in the end, Phoenix hit one more free throw than the Blazers did down the stretch, providing the slim margin of victory. ....

At last Fridayâs game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the first Trail Blazers home game at the Moda Center with a crowd, fans posed in front of the âRip Cityâ sculpture in front of the Essential Forces Fountain. They hovered over the âIâ in âCityâ while someone else captured the moment on their cellphone. Television crews aimed their cameras at the oval building, and reporters talked about the historic nature of the night. Fans came equipped with signs, flags, and an energy thatâs been lying dormant since the NBA canceled last yearâs season, an energy that perhaps pushed the Blazers to a crucial win that overtook the Lakers for sixth seed. ....
