Posted: January 11, 2021 Mainroad forecasting varying snowfall levels for Purcells Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Ltd.’s meteorological service is predicting a weather system will move into the region for tonight into Wednesday evening before tapering around dawn on Thursday. Light to moderate snow showers are expected for the Panorama Mountain Resort area with accumulations of 15-30cm possible. Elsewhere, light snow showers will develop for the overnight hours into Tuesday morning before temperatures rise above freezing for Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday afternoon. Possible snow accumulations of two to five cm from Moyie north to Canal Flats, three to seven cm for Kimberley and Irishman-Yahk south to the border by Tuesday afternoon. ....

Posted: December 30, 2020 WAYNE HAROLD LYLE STONE JUNE 8, 1941 – DECEMBER 20, 2021 Wayne passed away unexpectedly at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Wayne is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 57 years, Barbara (McArthur), his Son Blair and wife Karena, grandson Joshua, grandaughter Kristina of Port Coquiltlam and daughter Brenda and spouse Kerry and granddaughter Sarah of White Rock. Wayne was loved and will be missed by his brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews and extended family Wayne was predeceased by his parents Jessie and Wilfred Stone and brother Robert. Wayne began school in Kimberley before attending vocational School for Carpentry. He was initiated in the Carpenters Local 1719 in 1961 and apprenticed with Kootenay District Council of Carpenters & Woodworkers building houses & Industrial Work.
