2021 NFL Draft: Pro Day rumors which could shape the Steelers' plans

We are less than three weeks away from the NFL Draft, and the 2021 pro days are now in the books. Even though NFL personnel have been on hand to get official times at each pro day this year, it will be interesting to see how much weight each team puts on these numbers.
Before we get into the headlines, I want to emphasize one thing about these times. It seems as if the different fields are having a major impact on the times. For instance, we expected Ja’Marr Chase to run well, but I am not sure that we were expecting a 4.38. We definitely did not expect to see Terrace Marshall run a 4.41, as many thought that he would run in the mid 4.5s. Almost everyone ran better than expected at LSU’s pro day, but it was the exact opposite at North Carolina’s pro day. Michael Carter and Dyami Brown were expected to run in the 4.3s, but they both winded up with times in the 4.4s. Chazz Surratt was expected to run around 4.5, and he nearly ran a 4 ....

As time progresses, this pick seemingly gets closer and closer to being written in pen.
It s tough to go wrong with either Wilson or Justin Fields in this spot. The narrative that Wilson was simply a one-year wonder à la Mitchell Trubisky is disingenuous. Wilson earned an 80.5 overall grade across seven starts as a true freshman back in 2018, including an 18-for-18, 317-yard passing performance in BYU s bowl win over Western Michigan. His 2019 season began with offseason shoulder surgery and included a stint on the sideline with a thumb injury. Still, he put up a respectable 76.2 PFF grade in over 600 snaps.
Of course, those performances both pale in comparison to his 2020 season, where Wilson led all quarterbacks in PFF grade (95.4). His arm talent and ability to create outside structure impressed, regardless of the competition he faced. ....

Mel Kiper sees an NFL draft stocked with positions the Cardinals need

TEMPE, Ariz. The Arizona Cardinals are in need of a wide receiver who can be a foundational piece of their offense for the foreseeable future, and according to ESPN NFL Draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr., receivers are plentiful this year.
Kiper projects 37 pass-catches slot receivers, wide outs and tight ends who could be drafted in the first five rounds of this year s NFL draft, including 14 wide receivers with first- and second-round grades.
The Cardinals, of course, have a WR1 in DeAndre Hopkins, but need a WR2. And even though they signed veteran A.J. Green this offseason, they only gave him a one-year contract. At 32, the end of Green s career is closer than the beginning. That, coupled with the uncertainty of Larry Fitzgerald s future, puts receiver near the top of the Cardinals draft priorities this year. ....
