Randolph Rundown: Junior Sheriff's Academy, training programs, donations

Junior Sheriff s Academy
From Monday, July 19 to July 23, the Randolph County Sheriff s Office will have its second week of the Junior Sheriff s Academy. Teenagers 13 to 15 interested in law enforcement, fire, and EMS were encouraged to register. 
Captain Brian Arrington, head of the camp, said the program ran for a few years just for male students who were court-ordered. Then, under a new sheriff, the program was changed to a recruiting-style camp for teens interested in law enforcement.
The department has continued the recruiting theme throughout the changes of the office. ....

Roadside wildflowers and garden weeds aren’t all that’s been flourishing this month: democracy is blooming, judging by questions and statements put to Wiltshire Council’s Tuesday June 29 online Cabinet meeting.
More than 50 people had sent in questions or statements by the previous Wednesday. More were expected on the day, and questioners could ask follow-ups.
Independent Chippenham and Wiltshire Councillor and Environmental Management specialist Dr Nick Murry managed to put seventeen questions, the highest number. Most input was on just two topics, with over 25 speakers on each: the Future Chippenham HIF Bid, and the Wiltshire Local Plan Review Update. ....
