Officers were called to Cedar and Clay Avenues just after 9 PM Saturday night.
Investigators say witnesses told them an argument quickly escalated to violence between a group of people at a family party when a 17-year-old girl was shot in the leg.
The victim was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where she is recovering.
It s unclear how many people were involved and how many shots were fired, but police say some of the partygoers ran after several people before they got away.
We re very fortunate that we didn t have a homicide today, based on the fact that we had shots that appeared to go across the road, says Fresno Police Lt. Israel Reyes. Officers say the shooting happened around 2 PM near Lamona and Rowell Avenues.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
Authorities say an argument started at the nearby Floradora Mini Market and spilled over into the neighborhood.
That s when they say a white car pulled up next to the victim and opened fire.
Anytime something happens like this, it s a tragedy, especially to see a young man shot like that, so we are hoping for his quick recovery and that he ll be okay, says Fresno Police Lt. Tim Tietjen. In the meantime, we are trying to take all the information and try to figure out what happened here. ....

Fresno police have arrested a man wanted in a drive-by shooting that left a 38-year-old man dead in central Fresno.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) Fresno police have arrested a man wanted in a drive-by shooting that left a 38-year-old man dead in central Fresno.
Authorities say 26-year-old Sergio Sauceda Ochoa pulled up to a house on Echo and Voorman Avenues on December 25 and opened fire at George Garcia, who was standing outside at the time.
Garcia was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Police say Ochoa was taken into custody for separate domestic violence charges on December 29. ....
