Colts Neck officials adopt $13.6 million municipal budget for 2021 COLTS NECK – The members of the Township Committee have adopted a 2021 municipal budget that totals $13.67 million and will be supported by the collection of $8.28 million in taxes from Colts Neck’s residential and commercial property owners. Officials will appropriate $2.4 million from Colts Neck’s surplus fund (savings) to be used as revenue in the budget and expect to receive $1.98 million in state aid. The 2021 budget was unanimously adopted by committee members on April 28. In 2020, Colts Neck’s adopted budget totaled $12.47 million and the local tax levy was $7.8 million. Officials appropriated $1.6 million from surplus and received $1.98 million in state aid. ....

Other revenue in the budget includes the appropriation of $2.4 million from the township’s surplus fund (savings) and the receipt of $1.98 million in state aid. The budget was introduced on March 31 and a public hearing has been scheduled for April 28. During the public hearing, residents may comment on the budget. The Township Committee may adopt the budget that evening. ....
News Transcript News Briefs, Jan. 27 Freehold Regional High School District’s energy conservation partnership with Cenergistic, a nationwide sustainability company, culminated in a 31% decrease in energy use by the time the 2020-21 school year began in September 2020, according to a press release from the school district. The 31% energy reduction from the program equates to avoiding carbon emissions produced by eight million miles of automobile travel, according to the press release. “Our Cenergistic partnership has resulted in our district conserving energy effectively within our buildings. The collaboration has also aided us in ensuring the safety of our students and staff during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,” said Sean Boyce, assistant superintendent for business administration. “The success of this program goes beyond energy conservation.” ....
