( Mike Platania photo) A row of aging office buildings in the Fan is set to be razed to make way for a new salon-anchored development. Local developer and entrepreneur Andrew Flint is planning to replace four century-old structures in the 2600 block of West Cary Street with a mixed-use project that will include a storefront for Hive Salon Studios, a local chain he owns. Flint bought the buildings at 2606, 2608, 2610 and 2612 W. Cary St. for $1.27 million in November 2020 and began looking into renovating them, rather than tearing them down. ....

While Richmond has lost a number of independent restaurants due to pandemic pressures, including gems that helped shape the dining scene, the region has also witnessed an influx of new dining establishments. We look at some of these recent additions, from a chef-driven pizzeria in Scottâs Addition to a Black-owned juice bar in the Fan and an urban oasis in Fulton Hill.
