CHEYENNE (March 11, 2021) – The Wyoming Board of Agriculture will on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 via Zoom. The Wyoming Board of Agriculture meeting will begin at 8 am. During the meeting, the Board approve the minutes from the previous meeting, review the Board of Agriculture Policy Book changes, and cover any other business as needed. There will be a chance for public comment and the public is welcome to attend. The Board of Agriculture enforces the rules and regulations of the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. Seven board members are appointed by the governor for six-year terms to represent geographical areas of the state. Board members include: Jana Ginter, District 1; Jim Rogers, District 2; Shaun Sims, District 3; Amanda Hulet, District 4; Mike Riley, District 5; Vacant, District 6; and Larry Krause, District 7. Youth Board Members include: Landon Hoffer, Southeast; Jared Boardman, Northwest; Hadley Manning, Southwest; and Cameron Smith, Northeast. ....
Blizzards and deep snow have made travelling around Bethel more dangerous recently. Last week, Bethel Search and Rescue engaged in four searches for overdue travelers. One woman from Kasigluk was found dead just south of Bethel; the others made it home safely. BSAR President Mike Riley said that in all four instances, heavy snow was a factor. “With the recent searches we had, they didn t anticipate this much snow on the tundra, on the trails, and they burned all their gas up because of plowing through snow pulling a heavy load. And they weren t able to travel anymore,” Riley said. ....
March 10, 2021 By Mike Riley On Feb. 22 and 23, Youth2Youth Hastings Prince Edward, put on two virtual coffee house sessions to help young people with any mental health issues they may be struggling with as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The first two Coffee House sessions, thought up by Youth2Youth ambassadors Kyrstin Gordon, Gabrielle Sheridan and Melissa McKnight, focused on self care and were a big success. Two more Coffee House sessions were also held on March 8 and 9. These last two sessions were focused on stigma and mindfulness. Youth2Youth HPE is a group led by youth to spark innovative thinking and work with community leaders in the creation of solutions to problems affecting today’s youth. Youth2Youth HPE runs under the umbrella of the United Way HPE. Jodi Cooper, the director of community impact with the United Way HPE, says that Youth2Youth HPE works with local youth, non-profit organizations and the broader comm ....
March 10, 2021 Local Journalism Initiative Reporter With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, two lockdowns and many health and safety restrictions, some people have had more time at home and away from the office than usual over the past year. With this extra time, many have taken up a new hobby or perhaps picked a hobby back up that they used to enjoy. Several people around Bancroft and the surrounding area who have done so, filled us in on their hobby adventures during COVID-19. Natalie Phillips lives in Gilmour and is the library events coordinator at the North Hastings Public Library. She says the only thing she started doing new during COVID-19 was jewelry making, in Oct. 2020. ....
