City School Board Chairman Butch Campbell still wants to plan for new schools Murfreesboro officials have planned for impact fees since raising property taxes by 35.8% in 2019 Latest impact fees proposal shows scale based on housing size There’s not another school planned, city manager Craig Tindall told Martin during a City Council meeting. We felt like parks and streets are the needs now. Martin and other councilmembers responded to the proposed impact fees for parks-recreation and streets by asking consultant L. Carson Bise II to expand the impact fee study to include schools, police and firefighting capital improvements. The consultant in November initially showed a flat impact fee of $6,276 per house with $3,881 for parks-recreation and $2,395 for streets. A revised plan at the request of council ranges from a total fee of $1,960 per residential dwelling of 800 square feet or less to $7,871 for each new home that has 4,001 square feet or more ....
Here we are in the midst of winter with sickness and death all around us, and even though the Super Bowl game should temporarily alleviate some of the forces of darkness that makes one wonder if society will ever get back to normal, I just canât ignore the losses of so many friends and acquaintances since COVID-19 veered into all of our lives, affecting everyone in one way or another. From Lucky Jones to Tom Gagnon to Bob Weisner to attorney Joe Wagnerâs more recent death, I have lost many friends, although not all as a result of COVID. However, the recent death of two former neighbors â Betty and Arnold Browning â has just about pushed me over the edge. You just could not find two better people anywhere. ....
Eagle Summit Wilderness Alliance Chairman Mike Browning shared details on planned program expansions for the alliance in a New Year’s Day email. Although the pandemic forced the alliance to cancel last year’s volunteer wilderness ranger training program, Browning said the alliance will hold training this summer. He added that the alliance will enlist volunteer wilderness rangers to serve as overnight backcountry camp hosts to educate campers and explain backcountry camping rules and restrictions. Browning said the alliance also will expand its Trailhead Host Program. The program will include volunteer hosts setting up a table at a trailhead of their choosing where they’ll meet, greet and educate hikers. ....
