Americans are truly outraged by recent killings. Anyone who watched the video the murder of george floyd has to be horrified and heartbroken. The resulting peaceful protests about police abuse against any american citizen are important and necessary. They listen to the voices of africanamericans about police brutality. Some of the peaceful protests were hijacked by filing criminal, distraction, looting and arson stop. We give local discretion for funds to initiate Emission Reduction strategies. That include simple things like providing alternatives for our cars, people who want to walk or bike rather than getting into our cars. Its a major commitment that we are going to provide resources and partnerships with local governments to deal with our realities and the responsibility in the transportation sector to reduce carbon emissions. She bring important experience. I applaud President Trumps nomination of such an accomplished and dedicated public servant. The federal Highway Administration plays a central role in american mobility. The administration is the lead federal partner to the state and local transportation programs that maintain and improve our nations roads, highways and bridges. Americas transportation infrastructure faces a lot of challenges. For far too long the federal Highway Administration has been without senateconfirmed leadership. Moreover, the authorization of the federal highway programs will expire in september of next year.
