Upwey, Melbourne: Cops probe if three-month-old baby fatally hit by a train died in murder-suicide

A three-month-old baby has died after she was hit by a train alongside her mother - as police investigate whether the infant was killed in a botched murder-suicide attempt. Emergency crews were rushed to Upwey in Melbourne s east at 5.10pm on Sunday  after the mother and the baby were hit by the train near Kumbada Avenue. The baby was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries but later died. Her pram was also found alongside the tracks. The woman was also taken to hospital under police guard with life-threatening injuries. A Victoria Police spokesman said all possibilities are being investigated . The homicide squad is now investigating the baby s death, 9News reported.
