New Plans To Fund A Replacement For The Western Hills Viaduct

Cincinnati has plans for a new Western Hills Viaduct and the money to build it could be secured by the end of the year. The new design includes a single deck replacement with eight travel lanes, to be built 50 feet to the south of the existing viaduct. Construction will take $335 million and the project is expected to be complete in 2028.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The bottom deck of the Western Hills Viaduct is scheduled to be closed nightly this weekend, according to the Cincinnati Department of Transportation & Engineering.
It will shut down at the Harrison Avenue and Spring Grove Avenue exits starting at 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday.
The bottom deck will reopen to traffic during the day. ....

Netting causing causing overnight closures on Western Hills Viaduct

The bottom deck of the Western Hills Viaduct will be closed to through traffic overnight this weekend.
The bottom deck will be closed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Friday, May 7 through Sunday, May 9.
The overnight closure will prohibit access to the lower deck from the Harrison Ave. exit on the west end and the Spring Grove exit on the east end. Crews will be installing nets above the viaduct s intersection at Spring Grove.
City officials say the nets are being added as a safety precaution.
Maintenance crews regularly remove loose concrete by chipping it off the upper deck to prevent it from falling to the lower deck. The nets will catch loose concrete that might fall to the lower deck in between regular chipping and inspections, a press release said. ....
