The National Weather Service says that the Southern Tier is the most-likely to see strong or severe thunderstorms.
The late-afternoon and evening hours are the timeframe to watch.

A strong thunderstorm hit parts of Monroe and Wayne counties Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
Just before 2 p.m. the Weather Service issued an alert, warning that the pending storm will bring 40 mph winds and pea-sized hail.
Earlier in the day, forecasters said that there s a marginal chance that that Rochester will experience a severe storm with strong, damaging winds and large hail Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Shortly before noon, Weather Service Meteorologist Jon Hitchcock said that there s a better chance for parts of the Southern Tier and northwestern Pennsylvania to see the most severe storms. ....

Chautauqua, Cattaraugus County Vaccine Numbers Trail State | News, Sports, Jobs

Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties are lagging behind New York state when it comes to vaccinations.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that 15.2% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In Chautauqua County, the number is 14.2% with 18,154 receiving the first dose and 9,502 receiving the second. Cattaraugus County numbers were lower with 9,402 or 12.2% receiving the first dose and 4,747 receiving the second.
“I’m confident that we will continue to see increases to our weekly allocation and in turn get even more shots in arms quickly and fairly, but it will take time,” Cuomo said in a statement. “The war isn’t won until every New Yorker has been vaccinated. I urge all qualifying New Yorkers to make an appointment and get the vaccine when their turn comes, and to continue to wear a mask and social distance even after being fully vaccinated.” ....

Winter weather advisories issued for GLOW region

Accumulating snow is expected late tonight and Tuesday across the GLOW region, prompting winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service.
The conditions could primarily affect the Tuesday morning commute, with a few inches of snow possible, according to the Weather Service.
One winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday for Livingston, Wyoming and southern Erie counties.
Mixed precipitation is expected, with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch, the Weather Service said.
A separate winter weather advisory includes Genesee, Orleans, Monroe, Niagara, northern Erie, Ontario and Wayne counties. The advisory will be in effect from 8 a.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. ....
