Gainesville celebrates Easter with pandemic teachings in mind
First Magnitude Brewing Company is usually a popular gathering spot for Gainesville residents to swap stories over a pint of beer, but on Easter Sunday it became a sanctuary for members of City Church to join one another nearby though still at a distance to sing and worship in celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.
“It’s a beautiful morning, a bit cold,” said Mary Lebo, who attended service there early Sunday.
She and several dozen others bundled up in jackets, hats and scarves to filter into the brewery’s beer garden, which has served as the makeshift home for City Church of Gainesville, normally on the second floor at 19 SW First St.
