COEUR D ALENE, Idaho Mayor Steve Widmyer isn’t prone to overstatement.
A rabid baseball fan, Widmyer also tossed a Yogi Berra quote out on the table at one of the businesses he owns, Fort Ground Grill: “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”
Time for Idaho businesses to step up, lead from the front

It started with criticism of Boise State University’s first woman president. Then they attacked freshman survey classes in Boise and at North Idaho College, the main institution that trains talent and provides upward mobility for thousands of citizens in North Idaho’s most populous region. Next, if I recall, they yelled about women’s hygiene products in university bathrooms? And then it became more ominous, with legislation targeting transgender children, a move to end citizen initiatives, voter restrictions and selected, politicized attacks on funding of our beloved Idaho colleges and universities. But recently, it really jumped the shark, with a state senator decrying some of the most institutionally conservative elements in our society big tech companies as being liberal.

Tuesday, April 6th, and the Idaho Legislature will gavel back into session today… that after an historic pause due to COVID-19 infections of some lawmakers. Boise State Public Radio s James Dobson is here to help us regroup. Jimmy, good morning.
JAMES DAWSON: Hey, good morning, George.
PRENTICE: I want to talk about some things that might happen in the final days of the session… but remind us of what absolutely has to happen before lawmakers go home.
DAWSON: The only thing that the Idaho Legislature is required to do before moving over to the new fiscal year every single year, and before they go home, is pass the budget. And so far, you ve had several budget bills make it out of both the House and Senate. But that s something that they usually wait until the end of the session to do. Some lawmakers are potentially wanting to stick around
