SAMPLER: Anne Lavallee celebrates 100 with friends, family Mary Wenzel Anne Lavallee, on July 13, joined a growing number of centenarians and celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends. Born and raised in Marlborough, Anne lived in Marlborough until four years ago when she moved into St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham where her celebration took place. The festivities were attended by her three children, Deborah Garcia, Darlene Bourgeois and Jay Lavallee; her son-in-law Charlie Bourgeois; her seven grandchildren: Amber Swenson, Jeff Garcia, Tim Bourgeois, Ted Bourgeois, Alicia Garcia, Tara Bartley and Jayson Lavallee; and six out of seven great-grandchildren: Tyler Swenson, Bailey Bourgeois, Evan Swenson, Kate Bourgeois, Jack and Charlie Bourgeois. SAMPLER: City councilor also directs Junior Woman s Club Mary Wenzel Kathleen “Katie” Robey, a Marlborough City Councilor and one of the city’s most dedicated public servants, is also serving as the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Massachusetts director of junior clubs 2021-22. A member of the GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club since 1996, Katie is the fourth MJWC member to have held the director position, including Marilyn Perry, Sheila Shea and Diane McCurley. However, it is without question that Katie was in for a very different experience than the previous directors. The GFWC MA Junior Membership had its Annual Meeting scheduled for April 25, 2020, at the Holiday Inn in Marlborough with the installation of officers scheduled for the evening. ....

The National Senior Health and Fitness Day also featured the 12th Annual Alexander Kursonis Memorial Tennis Tournament with the winners of the competition Gerald Flynn, Bob Bullerwell and Pat Steuart. Israel Rodriguez, who had been at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough for two years, left May 31 to go to St. Patrick’s Parish in Lawrence where he was to serve as parochial vicar. SAMPLER: Marlborough Hospital closes vaccine clinic Mary Wenzel As of June 30, the Marlborough Hospital COVID-19 vaccine clinic officially closed its doors and has officially provided its last vaccine at the Courtyard by Marriott Marlborough. This effort helped to provide close to 21,000 vaccines to the public. This initiative was in collaboration with the City of Marlborough (Official) and brought not only vaccines to the community but hope. This was a momentous day that served as another symbol of the return to life pre-pandemic. The UMass Memorial-Marlborough Hospital wanted to thank the caregivers who have worked tirelessly at the Vaccine Clinic and also the Stop the Spread testing team. They have gone above and beyond so the Marlborough Hospital hosted them in the luxury UMass Memorial Health box at a WooSox game. ....
