Want an affordable apartment, 2 blocks from Capitol? Big Boise project offers hope
David Staats, The Idaho Statesman
Mar. 9 A plan is afoot to make a downtown Boise block the site of one of the biggest urban-renewal construction projects ever undertaken in Boise.
The goal: to create more affordable housing. But Boise officials, who are barely into the project s discussion stage, already have doubts about how many of the possible 500 new apartments could or should actually be affordable to people earning modest wages.
The apartments would be built in buildings up to eight stories tall on the block bordered by State, 11th, Jefferson and 10th streets. The block is across State Street from the Downtown Boise YMCA and just two blocks west of the Capitol. ....

Everything has changed, so many are struggling, and the end really isn t in sight just yet. If you would have told us a year ago that FACE MASKS would be both sold on every street corner and the most controversial things ever, we may not have believed you.
Well, here we are.
It doesn t take a rocket scientist to know that there has been a lot of debate around masks here in the Treasure Valley. After November s election cycle, two Republicans took over two seats among the Ada County Commissioners. Many assumed that this would mean a vast shift on the Central District Health s Board of Health. It did. Did Politics Drive Vandals to Deface 'Seated Lincoln' In Boise?

The Boise Police Department is investigating an event from someone or a group of people that must have been bored Monday. The Seated Lincoln located in Julia Davis Park was vandalized. Were these just people looking for something to do or was it politically driven?
You can draw your own conclusion when you see the photos on Instagram. This does look like a bit more than just some drunk college kids all for a walk.
Black History Month began today celebrating the accomplishments of African Americans in every area throughout history officially recognized by President Gerald Ford in 1976. This historic month coincides with Abraham Lincoln s birthday which falls on February 12, 1809. Lincoln formally issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 to liberate all enslaved people. So, did this act happen at Julia Davis Park by just some kids being ignorant, or was this more? ....
