Mayors Beans & Cornbread Luncheon benefits Hospice of Lubbock

A-J Media Folks from all over the South Plains converged in South Lubbock at lunchtime Friday to share in beans and cornbread for a good cause. Hospice of Lubbock’s largest fundraiser returned, but with a different look and concept to celebrate its 32nd year. Hundreds turned out for the annual Mayors’ Beans & Cornbread Luncheon fundraiser drive-thru event at the newly remodeled YWCA of Lubbock at 66th Street and University Avenue. The luncheon is Hospice of Lubbock’s opportunity to raise funds to provide free hospice care to the unfunded and underfunded across the region. Hospice of Lubbock is the region’s only faith-based, non-profit hospice care available to both adults and children. It serves 19 counties in West Texas, according to a news release from the agency.
