Folks from all over the South Plains converged in South Lubbock at lunchtime Friday to share in beans and cornbread for a good cause.
Hospice of Lubbock’s largest fundraiser returned, but with a different look and concept to celebrate its 32nd year.
Hundreds turned out for the annual Mayors’ Beans & Cornbread Luncheon fundraiser drive-thru event at the newly remodeled YWCA of Lubbock at 66th Street and University Avenue.
The luncheon is Hospice of Lubbock’s opportunity to raise funds to provide free hospice care to the unfunded and underfunded across the region. Hospice of Lubbock is the region’s only faith-based, non-profit hospice care available to both adults and children. It serves 19 counties in West Texas, according to a news release from the agency.

Beans and Cornbread luncheon set for Friday
Hospice of Lubbock’s is hosting its annual Mayors Beans and Cornbread fundraiser luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday as a drive-thru event at the newly remodeled YWCA of Lubbock at 66th Street and University Avenue.
The Mayors’ Beans & Cornbread Luncheon is Hospice of Lubbock’s opportunity to raise funds to provide free hospice care to the unfunded and underfunded across the region.
Each guest will receive a full plate of beans and cornbread, along with all the fixings for $10. Guests can enter the YWCA parking lot on the south side of the building off of 66th Street.
