(KAIT) - Some Trumann residents say they have lost faith in their city officials for letting a building code slip, but other residents say the code violation isnât that big of a deal. The city violated a building code allowing a private home to build a 900-square-foot accessory building, 100-square-feet over the limit and in direct violation of Trumannâs Zoning Code. Section 10.01 C of the zoning code states, âaccessory buildings cannot exceed 800 square feet without a conditional use permitâ and a public hearing where neighbors and concerned citizens can voice their opinions, something Mayor Barbara Lewallen admitted the city failed to do at the Apr. 20th city council meeting. ....

(KAIT) - In addition to fighting fires, the Trumann Fire Department has earned a rare license to save lives. The Arkansas Department of Health recently awarded the TFD its Advanced Response Service EMS Service license. (KAIT) - Temperatures are dangerous, and road conditions are rough in Poinsett County. Several people at the Stepping Stone Homeless Center say the warming center saved their life. The Poinsett County Sherriff Department responded to one rollover on Highway 163 at Raceway Road. Sheriff Kevin Molder says they’ve responded to several people in ditches and those who have slid off the road. Trumann Mayor Barbara Lewallen says they have two tractors that act as snowplows, but the snow is falling faster than they can keep up. Crews are planning on removing the snow once it stops falling. ....

(KAIT) - Road conditions have been rough in Poinsett County. According to the Sheriffâs Department, there have been 14 confirmed wrecks and two rollovers, leading to Trumann closing sections of highways. Trumann Mayor Barbara Lewallen says they closed side roads that have not been treated. She says that safety is their biggest concern- and blocking off the area was the best choice. Portions of Highway 198 and Highway 214 have been closed. Industrial Park Access between Pecan Grove and Walmart is blocked. West Main Extended from Thelma to Trumann Auto Body is also blocked. ....
