Leaders of Siskiyou towns come together to strategize for development

Shasta Area Newspapers Leaders from 10 towns across Siskiyou County came together to share information and ideas last Wednesday during the League of Local Agencies of Siskiyou County s quarterly meeting in Dunsmuir. Better known simply as LOLA, the group meets every three months at various Siskiyou County locations.  We exchange ideas during these quarterly networking meetings so we can learn from each other and spark new ideas, said Mount Shasta City Councilor Tim Stearns.  We ve been doing this for 30 to 40 years. The July 21 meeting was attended by representatives from Dunsmuir, Mount Shasta, McCloud, Dorris, Etna, Fort Jones, Montague, Tulelake, Weed and Yreka, as well as District 2 supervisor Ed Valenzuela, Siskiyou Economic Development Executive Director Tonya Dowse, and Siskiyou County Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue. Each shared their strategies to build strength in the county by sharing what s happening in all corners of Siskiyou.

Dunsmuir s Mott Airport has been revived just in time to stage aircraft for Lava Fire fight Shareen Strauss Mt. Shasta Area Newspapers Many dignitaries involved with the $3.2 million Mott Airport project in Dunsmuir gathered June 23 for a ribbon cutting ceremony of the airport s newly rehabilitated runway – just in time for the space to be utilized by firefighters battling the nearby Lava Fire. The project has been in the works for six years.  Dunsmuir Councilman Bruce Deutsch, who headed up the effort because of his background with the federal government, said that this is a critical airport for safety reasons and central for fire fighting and tourism.

Two arrested in 2017 Clarksville murder WTVF and last updated 2021-05-05 17:28:09-04 CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two men were arrested in connection to a 2017 murder in Clarksville. The Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Timothy Labrone Williams II and Matthew Kenneth Bryan on murder, kidnapping and burglary charges in the death of Christopher Lane. Clarksville Police Department Matthew Kenneth Bryan On Nov. 7, 2017, Clarksville Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 300 block of Hundred Oaks Drive. Once there, they found Lane with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
