IBM Announces SaaS Cloud Pak for Zero Trust Security 4 hours ago IBM is going all-in on zero trust security, with the introduction of a Software as a Service (SaaS) version of Cloud Pak for Security. In the age of cloud computing, zero trust security is viewed as an essential component. Traditional security focuses on maintaining a perimeter, within which the devices connected to that network are trusted. In cloud computing, however, there is no clear perimeter. As a result, each device must be treated with zero trust. “Our customers need to secure their rapidly changing business environments without causing delays or friction in their daily operations,” said Mary O’Brien, General Manager, IBM Security. “It’s not uncommon to have users, data and applications operating in different environments. IBM Cloud Paks are bundles of Red Hat’s Kubernetes-based OpenShift Container Platform along with Red Hat Linux and a variety of connecting technologies to let enterprise customers deploy and manage containers on their choice of private or public infrastructure, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba and IBM Cloud. IBM’s Cloud Pak for Security, which features among other things, open-source technology for hunting threats and automation capabilities to speed response to cyberattacks and can bring together on a single console data gathered by customers’ existing security point products. ....

With the acquisition, which is expected to finalised in the second quarter of 2021, IBM aims to help its customers lower the costs of managing multiple applications within the same hybrid cloud environment. The announcement follows IBM s recent acquisition of Instana, as well as the launch of IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, which automates IT operations with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).
