AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12, LICENSES, TAXATION AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS REGULATIONS, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN PROVIDING REGULATIONS SPECIFICALLY TO
ADD A CATEGORY FOR SHORT TERM RENTAL BUSINESS LICENSING
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Auburn, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 12, Licenses, Taxation, and Miscellaneous Business Regulations, of The Code of the City of Auburn is hereby amended to add the following:
ARTICLE II. Business License.

Downtown design standards reviewed

The City Council, Planning Commission and Downtown Design Review Committee held a joint work session on Monday to review proposed revisions to the cityâs Downtown Development and Design Standards.Â
The DDRC was tasked with reviewing and updating the standards as part of its mission and began work on draft regulations in January 2020. The DDRC met numerous times last year, mostly virtually, to craft the regulations, including in three joint work sessions with the Planning Commission, which recommended approval of the amendments to the zoning ordinance by a 7-1 vote at its regular meeting in April. The City Council will consider the amendments at its meeting on May 18.Â ....

EAMC vaccine clinic 'winding down' operations

The East Alabama Medical Center s Community Vaccine Clinic will soon wind down operations as requests for appointments have reached a plateau, according to news release issued by the hospital on Monday.Â
As of last Friday, the clinic had administered more than 72,000 doses of Pfizer s Covid-19 vaccine since it first opened on Feb. 1 during a time when the area was going through the worst surge of the pandemic and EAMC hospitalizations still hovered near 70.Â
The clinic itself represents a monumental effort by the Auburn-Opelika community to pool its resources to get Covid-19 vaccine doses in as many arms as possible.Â
EAMC, one of the first entities to start vaccinating people in the state, started administering Pfizer doses to the first wave of eligible citizens in December at its Education Center on Pepperell Parkway, where it was administering fewer than 500 doses a day. It quickly became apparent that the center could not accommodate the scale of what was ....
