(westernkansasnews.com)–For the second time this week, the Scott City Lady Beaver softball team would hit the road for a GWAC doubleheader, as they faced the Cimarron Bluejays for the first time in school history. It would be a big day for the Lady Beavers, as they were able to pick up a road sweep with wins of 14-9 and 9-7. In their first game, Scott City led 2-0 after the first inning, only to see the Lady Bluejays pull to within 2-0 after two innings. Following a scoreless third, the teams would trade runs in the fourth inning. The Lady Beavers opened the game up with a run in the fifth, four in the sixth, and sixth in the seventh inning to go up 14-2. Cimarron made a furious rally with a seven-run seventh inning, but fell short 14-9. Rhiley Stoppel had three hits and drove in two runs for the Lady Beavers, while Melanie Duff had two runs and batted three in, and Madison Miller had two hits and two RBI. (westernkansasnews.com)–Coming off a 10-day layoff, the Scott City Lady Beaver softball team returned to the diamond Friday afternoon to face the Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs in non-league play. The Lady Beavers would take care of business in both games, coming away with wins of 15-0 and 18-2 in a pair of contests that did not make it past the sixth inning. Scott City 15, SW Heights 0, Game 1 Southwestern Heights would collect two hits to start things off, but would come empty handed in their first at bat. Scott City was consistent in their scoring, putting up five runs in the three innings of play. The Lady Beavers got things going with a bang, as Hannah Tucker hit a two-run home run to get the scoring started. Cheyenne Cramer, and Makayala Miller would drive in runs in the opening inning. With only two games under their belts, and only one senior combined on the field, the youthful teams played a pair of well-contested games in a battle of 2-0 teams. Scott City would pick up the sweep, as they pulled away for a 10-3 victory in game one, but squeaked out a 4-3 win over the Lady Longhorns in the finale.
