In 2021-22, a $61.7 million focus on capital works will see the Glenroy Community Hub completed, providing health, early years, youth and community services to the north, along with more parks close to home, investments in our footpaths, bike paths, road and carparks and climate emergency initiatives. Acting Moreland Mayor Cr Mark Riley said that despite the challenges of delivering a budget in the Covid-19 pandemic environment, he was confident the 2021-22 budget struck a balance of benefits for the community and financial sustainability.

7 July 2021 1:28pm Relatives of residents who died when COVID-19 swept through St Basil’s aged care nursing home in Fawkner have said they are outraged by the facility’s decision to hold a memorial service for the deceased. Fr Evmenios Vasilopoulos, the Archdiocesan Vicar of the Northcote district, who is the current Chairman of the nursing home following the resignation of Konstantinos Kontis in September 2020, told Neos Kosmos that he understands the suffering of the relatives. “I totally understand the pain and reaction of Greek Australians who lost their beloved people,” he said. He added, however, that it is the “duty” of the home to hold the memorial service. “They were members of our family and we mourned and still mourn their loss,” he said.
