It marked the culmination of decades of struggle, in New Hampshire and beyond. New Hampshire’s role in the suffrage movement was complex and even contradictory. Despite glimmers of progress, like progressive legislation in the 1870s that acknowledged women’s right to vote in school elections, New Hampshire was generally viewed by Americans during this period as a conservative bulwark, unlikely to embrace such a forward-thinking reform as women’s suffrage. ....

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships which has a goal to identify and honor academically talented U.S. high school students. Being named a National Merit Finalist is a great honor for high achieving students and will place David in a competitive position to compete for college scholarships. David plans to study Chemical Engineering and is making a decision as to his next steps as he has been accepted into excellent universities. ....
