Polar Plunge goes mobile with help from Alexandria company
The Polar Plunge is now also mobile thanks to the Plungester which will be used at events across the state to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota.

ALEXANDRIA, Minnesota Every year, people go to the extreme to support Special Olympics Minnesota through the Polar Plunge.
These plunges typically play out on frozen Minnesota lakes. But they also happen on-site at schools across the state through the Cool School Polar Plunge.
What traditionally started out as year-round sports training for somebody who has an intellectual disability, now we ve got all kinds of programming, said Bill Fish, executive vice president for Special Olympics Minnesota. We re here at a school supporting our Unified programming where anybody can participate. ....

More than $45,000 was raised this year at LADACIN Network’s Virtual Plunge. The virtual event kicked off on Jan. 16 and ran through Jan. 30.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the agency decided to shift the LADACIN annual plunge to an all-virtual event for 2021. The Virtual Plunge left it up to the participants as to where, when and how they would plunge, according to a press release.
Plungers and supporters came up with creative ways to show their plunging talents. There were slip and slides, buckets of icy cold water, kiddie pools and even some brave souls plunging into the ocean. ....

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb 04, 2021 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) Oregonians have a longstanding and beloved winter tradition of Plunging into the frigid Columbia waters and even some icy cold pools every February to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Oregon. Donning their wildest costumes and swimming attire, more than 1,500 brave (some might say crazy) supporters across Oregon would have been preparing to take the Polar Plunge next month.
In a normal year, the Plunge would take place in 5 locations throughout the State (Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Bend and So. Oregon/Medford). However, nothing about the last year has been normal. With safety of the athletes and Plunge participants as a priority, we won’t be gathering to Plunge together in 2021. Bozeman's 2021 President's Polar Plunge Goes Virtual

An annual event to support Special Olympics Montana athletes, the President s Polar Plunge, is going virtual this year.
Normally, the President s Plunge takes place at the East Gallatin Recreation Area at Bozeman Beach. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, organizers have made the decision to create a virtual plunge for 2021.
To support the Virtual Presidents Day plunge this year, local law enforcement will be taking an icy shower provided by a Bozeman Fire Department truck.
Local law enforcement hopes to raise funds and awareness and get the community involved in this year’s Virtual Presidents Day Plunge. Officers from all over the valley are leading by example by “getting cold and having fun” and letting Special Olympics Montana athletes in the Gallatin Valley know that they love and support them. ....
