Virtual Braintree library coffee hour to feature local authors

BRAINTREE – Three area authors will speak about their writing and publishing experience during a Virtual Coffee with Local Authors event in Braintree, 7:00-8:00 p.m. June 7 at the Thayer Public Library, 789 Washington St.

Weymouth author Caroline Kautsire, originally from Malawi, Africa, will speak about her new memoir What Kind of Girl?: An African Child Caught Between Worlds.
Kautsire is an English literature and writing professor at Bunker Hill Community College and Bay State College in Boston, She also teaches public speaking and has given inspirational talks at colleges in Boston as well as to organizations that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Killeen residents had the opportunity Thursday night to talk with representatives of the police department about issues and concerns they have about the community.
People gathered at Potterâs House Church on Thursday for a âcommunity conversationâ hosted by the Killeen Police Department. About 45-50 people were in attendance.
Killeen police Chief Charles Kimble said the main goal of the conversation is to form a line of communication between law enforcement and the community.
âWe just want to have a conversation with the community about how weâre doing things as a department so we donât have any blind spots,â Kimble said earlier this week.
