Three of the remaining five members of Muskegon St. Joseph s 1953 boys basketball title team gathered to reminisce about the determination, and the one free throw, that pushed the Saints to upset the state s best team.

Harry was born on April 10, 1915 in Detroit as Harry Bratsberg (some sites spell it as Bratsburg ). Not long afterward, his family moved to Muskegon, where Harry spent his childhood and teen years. Harry and his siblings grew up during the Depression and were affected by the economic pinch, having to attend school in shoes and clothes that were lined with holes.
Muskegon School District pauses in-person learning for grades 6-12

MUSKEGON, MI – Muskegon Public Schools is pausing in-person learning for some students amid a recent increase of COVID-19 cases in the district.
Students in grades 6-12 switched to online-only classes on Friday, April 16, and will continue learning remotely through Friday, April 23, according to an April 15 letter to families from Muskegon Superintendent Matthew Cortez.
“I am writing in response to the current COVID-19 rates in our Middle School and High School levels,” Cortez wrote. “Ninety percent (90%) of the cases we are seeing are at the 6-12 grade level.”

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. Muskegon Heights City Council members have selected the city’s next police chief.
On Monday night, the council voted unanimously to promote Maurice Sain from “Interim Chief” to “Chief.” Sain replaces Joseph Thomas, who left Muskegon Heights to become the public safety director for Ecorse City in Wayne County.
