Convention Center workers offered time off to get COVID vaccine


The Capital Improvement Board is offering employees extra time off for getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Carlsbad City Council met Tuesday and approved a zoning change so that 192 multifamily residential apartments can be built southwest of Palomar Airport Road and Palomar Oaks Way. The council also approved a tentative tract map and site plan for a nine-unit condominium project at 2690 Roosevelt St. The council discussed an appeal by Taylor Made and Callaway golf companies of the business license tax collector’s decisions that they had underpaid their taxes. The council agreed to grant part of the tax relief they requested by asking the collector to apply an apportionment formula to tax years ending in 2019 or later. The council also requested that adjustments be made to other businesses affected by the business license tax and penalties before Jan. 16, 2019. Staff was asked to bring back a study of the city’s business license tax ordinance and the apportionment formula. Minot City Council removes Anne Street Bridge from improvement plan | News, Sports, Jobs

The Minot City Council has approved a five-year Capital Improvement Plan that includes more than $335 million in projects but no Anne Street Pedestrian Bridge renovation.
The council stripped out the $1.9 million bridge project before adopting the plan Monday. The plan will serve as a guide in considering major spending, including the flood control project, from 2021 through 2025.
Josh Wolsky, interim director for the Downtown Business & Professional Association, offered the association’s support for the bridge project.
“We’ve done a number of planning exercises throughout this community over the last many years, and they all speak to issues like connectivity, transportation alternatives that encourage walking and biking, and people-centric locations that create spaces for people as opposed to prioritizing automobiles. They speak to making the river a central point of our community, and in all of these areas, the Anne Street Bridge ....
