The cases peaked in September-October, after which there was a decline but since mid-February infections have surged again. On Thursday, the city reported 1,508 new coronavirus cases, taking its case tally to 3,38,631, while the death toll in the city reached 11,515 with four more fatalities. As many as 911 patients recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 3,14,257. There are 11,969 active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai now. Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali too continues to report huge cases. Whereas, a week-long lockdown has also been imposed in Nagpur. ....

On Monday, 1,008 more people tested positive for the virus. Four deaths took the toll to 11,504 while 956 people getting discharged during the day took the recovery count in the metropolis to 3,11,407. The average daily growth rate of COVID-19 cases in the city has increased to 0.31 per cent from 0.17 per cent on February 18, while the case doubling time shortened from 417 days to 225 days now. The active cases in the city stands at 10,799. Meanwhile, a lockdown between March 13 and 31 was declared on Monday in the hotspots in Thane city. The order, issued by Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma, said the decision was taken due to rise in COVID-19 cases in these areas in the past few days. ....

On Tuesday, 859 people tested positive for the virus, while 903 patients recovered in the city. Mumbai reported only two COVID-19 fatalities, the lowest in the last 10 months. The overall death toll has risen to 11,476, while the caseload increased to 3,27,619. At present, there are 9,633 active COVID-19 cases in the city now. Meanwhile, in addition to BMC centres, 29 private hospitals in Mumbai have been given permissions to carry out COVID Vaccination Drive. The BMC said that these 29 hospitals fulfil all criteria prescribed by GoI to be designated as COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC). ....
