BHOPAL: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and leader of opposition, Kamal Nath was booked by crime branch police on Sunday for his recent statements on Covid. He had said that around “1.27 lakh bodies” had reached the cremation grounds and graveyards in the state during the months of March and April this year and his guess was that 80% of those deaths were due to Covid.
An FIR against Nath was registered under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the IPC and Section 54 (making or circulating a false alarm or warning as to disaster or its severity or magnitude, leading to panic) of National Disaster Management Act 2005. Police said more sections can be added in the FIR as the investigation proceeds.
