14-May-2021 Source: Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust The new, lifesaving helipad at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) – the first elevated helipad of its kind in the North West – has opened to patients today (Monday 10 th May, 2021). The state-of-the-art helicopter landing pad, which is situated on the roof of Grafton Street car park onOxford Road Campus (ORC), will enable critically ill or injured babies, children and adults to be airlifted straight to MFT hospitals in Manchester city centre. The helipad will bring adults and children with life threatening injuries to the Major Trauma Centres at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH), both co-located on the Oxford Road Campus of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust site in the centre of Manchester.

Major Trauma Centre at Mater aims for phased programme up and running in 2022 Meetings underway immediately following designation to advance long term project As the newly designated Major Trauma Centre for the Central Region network, Dublin’s Mater Misericordiae Hospital aims to get up and running in 2022 on the first phase of development. Trauma Lead for the Mater Hospital, Dr Fran O’Keeffe, described the announcement issued yesterday (April 27), designating the two Major Trauma Centres in Dublin and Cork as a ‘great day’. He said they envisaged that the Major Trauma Centre programme would get underway as a long-term project in phased development of the infrastructure and staffing required for the network.
