President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments into the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Mohammed Manga, Director of Press & Public Relations, Ministry of Youths and Sports made the announcement in a statement on Friday.
The National Governing Board is the highest policy-making organ of the NYSC.
Ambassador Fatima Balla Abubakar is the Chairman.
Members are Prince Oyekunle Oyewunmi, President’s Nominee; Mrs. Binta Muaza, President’s Nominee, and Yusut Umar Nalado, President’s Nominee.
Major Gen B. O. Sawyerr, is the representative of the Chief of Army Staff, while Commissioner of Police Ede Ayuba, represents the Inspector General of Police. ....

NO fewer than 4,680 persons have received loans worth N1.31bn from the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, a subsidiary to the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.
The beneficiaries of the loans, according to a statement by the Director of Press of the ministry, Mohammed Manga, are spread across the country and critical sectors of the economy.
The ministry noted the N1.31bn loan was the first tranche of N12.5bn that would be disbursed, adding that more loans would be given in order to achieve the empowerment objective of the programme.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development’s Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) has disbursed loans to at least 4,680 beneficiaries amounting to N1.31bn out of the first tranche of N12.5bn. ....

Immigration boss raises the alarm over fake marriages

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede has expressed worry over the consummation of fake marriages to Nigerian spouses by foreigners.
He said there had been a sharp increase in December 2020 of such marriages to Nigerian spouses just to avoid payments of $2,000 Residence Permits.
Babandede said the development would deny the nation the needed revenue, take away jobs and cause security problems for the country.
He spoke during the unveiling of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) 2020 Annual Report by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.
The Immigration boss was qouted in a statement signed by the Director of Press in the Ministry, Mohammed Manga as saying that “despite several arrests and deportation orders signed by the Minister of Interior, there was a sharp increase in December 2020 compared with previous months in the year. ” ....
