On June 21, YouTube is opening up grant applications for its #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund Class of 2022. At the same time, YouTube announced that it is expanding eligibility of the two-year-old program beyond just digital creators and artists to songwriters and producers as well. It is also launching the program in Canada (in addition to the U.S., Brazil, Australia, Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria, where creators were already eligible). On the music front, artist and songwriter/producer grants will also be available in Australia. YouTube established the Fund last year in the wake of the George Floyd protests to amplify the voices, perspectives, and stories of Black people. The creator grants are just one component of a $100 million, multi-year investment that also includes YouTube Originals focused on these efforts, such as Glad You Asked and Bear Witness, Take Action, as well as forthcoming series The Outsiders and Onyx Family Dinner. Following his multi-fight deal with Showtime Sports, controversial vlogger-boxer Jake Paul has lined up his next boxing match with former UFC welterweight (between lightweight and middleweight) champion Tyron Woodley. The 190-pound match is slated for Aug. 28, ESPN reports, and a location will be locked down shortly. The pro match will take place with 10-ounce gloves, and will air on Showtime as a pay-per-view event, with fans also expected to be able to attend IRL. Woodley is a teammate and friend of Ben Askren, the former UFC fighter that Paul knocked out at his last match in April where Woodley was also in attendance. As a matter of fact, Woodley and Paul got into a verbal altercation before that fight in the locker room, which foreshadowed their showdown. Instagram is giving creators and businesses access to new analytics with respect to two key video products:
Reels and
Live broadcasts.
The stats will live within the Insights tab, which is only available to users with creator or business accounts though such accounts are available to anyone, and simply mark a different format than standard, personal accounts. Insights are also only available on the mobile app, though Instagram says they will soon roll out on the desktop app as well.
For its TikTok copycat Reels, Instagram will now furnish six total metrics: plays, accounts reached, likes, comments, saves, and shares. For Live, it will display accounts reached, peak concurrent viewers, comments, and shares. Furthermore, all of these metrics will be incorporated into overarching Insights to give a broader picture of their impact on a creator or business’ Instagram presence over time.
