In a case of gross negligence, at least 12 kids were administered hand sanitiser instead of the oral polio vaccine drops at a Primary Health Centre in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday at Bhanbora PHC (Primary Health Centre) in Kapsikopri village, when over 2,000 small children aged 1-5 years had gathered along with their parents for the polio vaccination programme under the national immunization drive. ....

NAGPUR: The callous approach of health workers deployed at a polio booth in Yavatmal district saw 12 children under the age of five years being administered sanitizer instead of polio drops on Sunday.
The children, who are from Kapsi Kopri village in Ghatanji tehsil of the district, started vomiting and showing symptoms of uneasiness after being given sanitizer drops. All were brought to the paediatric ward of the Government Medical College and Hospital in Yavatmal. Doctors told TOI that the condition of the children is stable and that they continue to be under observation. ....

In a shocking case of carelessness, at least 12 children were administered hand sanitizer instead of polio drops. The health department staff at a Primary Health Centre of a Maharashtra village were responsible for this.
The incident took place on Sunday at the Kapsi-Kopari, an interior village, under Ghatanji tehsil of Maharashtra s Yavatmal district. Around 2,000 children between the ages of 2-5 came to the health centre along with the parents. Among this at least 12 children were given hand sanitizer drops instead of oral polio vaccine drops.
The health condition of these kids deteriorated and they started vomiting. They were immediately rushed to the Government Medical Hospital for treatment at Yavatmal.
