Motorist and hijackers disguised as police killed in Ekhurleni shootout
A motorist defended himself against hijackers allegedly dressed in police uniform on the R50 near Delmas on Saturday. Three people were killed in the shootout.
Two suspects disguised as police officers were shot and killed in a shootout with a motorist on the R50 near Delmas, which is just east of Johannesburg, in Mpumalanga. The suspects allegedly attempted to hijack that motorist’s Toyota SUV, and that is when the shooting occurred.

Newly appointed Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa told
News24 that the motorist used his firearm to shoot at the hijackers and he died in the gun battle on the side of the road.

Many roads across the Central Highlands and Isaac regions remain closed following heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Residents in the Gemfields have been closed in from the north and south, with both Anakie Sapphire Road and Capella Road closed in both directions due to flooding.
It is understood that Retreat Creek Bridge reopened about 1pm on March 17.
Areas of the Gemfields recorded more than 200mm early Wednesday morning, which also resulted in the rapid rise of Retreat Creek, flooding parts of Sapphire.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads reported Clermont Alpha Road was closed from 9am, from Alpha to the Isaac Regional Council boundary.
